The reverse pattern shows on the back hence the name Summer and Winter.

I have been experimenting with monoprinting:

Member’s Exhibition at Hutt Art Centre

I have 3 pieces in the Member’s Exhibition at the Odlin Gallery in Lower Hutt:

Two Scarves both 100 % Alpaca – beautifully soft.

And another woven piece made from a cotton warp , a linen paper weft and book text weft, mounted on handmade paper.

The piece is called “Imagination Wander” - the idea being that you flick through the text and make up your own story.

Update

This is some of what has been keeping me busy over the last couple of months:

Doug made a fringe twister for me to make it easy to finish weaving ends.

From this:

To this: a throw made with alpaca warp and variegated alpaca weft, so soft.

IMG_0452

I have fallen in love with alpaca as it weaves beautifully and is so soft. This is the next project on my four shaft loom at the moment:

I have also been busy making solar plates and have been cutting up the resulting intaglio prints to make collages for an upcoming exhibition.

and with these I am aiming for a ‘tile’ idea and I have coated the collaged prints with a high gloss resin.

I have been experimenting with altered book art:

And when I am relaxing I have started knitting socks using variegated yarn . It’s so much fun as the colours keep changing. This is the first sock of a second pair I am making.

Books

At the weekend hubby made me a print drying rack so I tested it and made a quick reduction woodcut using my book press:

IMG_0433

I have also kicked off the year and made a couple of  bound journals (sewn on tapes) with a decorative Japanese tape spine and Washi end papers:

The lighter coloured journal has a slightly rounded spine and the red journal has a flat spine. The inner pages are a mixture of lined and blank papers.

Trip to Wellington Zoo- Firefox

Phoebe and I went to a Red Panda Encounter today at Wellington Zoo. The Keeper took us into their enclosure and we fed ‘Reeka’ and ‘Jay’ pears and grapes. So soft. They are natives of China and are found up high in the Himalayas. Also they are known as the ‘Firefox’ and are the symbol for the browsers we know so well!

This is Reeka and Jay’s son who wasn’t keen to join us and stayed up in the trees:
