Rag rug, bookbinding

My first rag rug in progress – made with a cotton warp and the weft is one half of a queen size duvet cover bought at the local school gala for $4!  It takes longer to make the weaving strips than it does to weave the rug!

And some books just finished – coptic bound with quality heavy weight drawing and painting paper pages :

And four more covers which I have since made in to books but haven’t taken any pictures yet of the finished product

I also have some recycled books under way and will show some pictures soon.

I am enjoying the two branches at the moment – using lovely papers and heavy weight pages to make artists sketch books or small photo albums , guest books etc and recycling old  books with a variety of pages to make notebooks , travel diaries or journals.

My weaving also has the two aspects – I have been exploring rag rug weaving using recycled fabrics and on my small loom at the moment I have some new wool weaving with which I am exploring making spaces in the warp and weft.

More pictures to come!

Bookbinding, weaving and a trip to Red Rocks

IMG_6633

We had a lovely Sunday walk around the coast to Red Rocks a few weeks ago. The weather was fine and still and we even spotted a seal.
